Fillinch on Channel 5 KALB probably Thursday

KALB TV Channel 5 in Alexandria was at the Walter Ledet Track Complex Wednesday working on a feature package on Demon javelin great Cody Fillinich. The Golden Meadow native, who graduated last month, heads up to Fayetteville Monday and competes next Wednesday in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The feature story on Fillinich could air Thursday evening at 6 and 10 on KALB. Sharif Ishaq did the shooting and reporting, even chasing Cody down the runway and posting himself about 30 feet back of his 220-feet landing zone.

It was impressive to see the groupings of Fillinich's practice throws. If they were pitching wedges, they would have made a PGA pro proud. Let's see, at about 75 yards, they were probably lob wedges. Cody and his coach, Mike Heimerman, were planning a workout Thursday followed by 18 holes at Demon Hills.

Greeting the new Demons
