At the Houston Area Alumni event at Cadillac Bar and Grill, several old teammates and former Demon Football players reunited, along with a crowd of about 75 NSU alumni for an evening of reflection and celebration. Pictured are the former Demon Football players in attendance: Former Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year Paul Mefford, Associate Athletic Director Will Broussard, David Groman, All-Century Team member and current Houston Texan David Pittman, John Gilpin, Colby Doucet, Ryan Sweezy, David Centanni, and NSU President Dr. Webb.
Who, what, where, when, why as it relates to Northwestern State athletics- that's The Daily Demon. What really doesn't fit into our traditional press releases, you'll get here from several members of the NSU athletic department staff. It might be updates on former student-athletes. It may be that somebody called to say hello, or dropped by. It's all about strengthening the special bond that the NSU family shares. If you've got news or notes, please e-mail thedailydemon@gmail.com and let us know!

Two track notes of interest
Cody Fillinich competes as the sun sets Wednesday and hopefully Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
His Wednesday qualifying round, shaving the 26 national qualifiers down to 12 finalists, begins at 8 p.m. in Fayetteville, Ark.
The top 12 qualifiers advance to the finals Friday evening at 7:30. Look for a preview on nsudemons.com tomorrow.
Further south, interesting to note that former Lady Demon hepthathlete Denise Quezaire is the press secretary in the office of Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu. She keeps a close eye on NSU sports and especially track and field, and hopes to come to NSU next spring to see the fabulous almost-new track that she didn't have the opportunity to compete on during her career.
She and several NSU alumni stay in touch, including hurdler and decathlete Justin Wolfe, who lives in Baton Rouge and is still in the rodeo business.
